These portrait courses with artist Ian Price takes place over 2 days at Portishead Yacht Club. Suitable for beginners and experienced artists, they cover drawing techniques, introduction to limited palette, and assistance with transitioning from drawing to painting. Basic materials are provided, and participants can bring favoured paints and easel.

Expressive Oil Portraits with Andrew James – Autumn 26

Andrew is a highly sought after Artist and tutor, who has worked on many prestigious commissions of public figures. Winner of the Ondnaatje Prize for Portraiture at the Royal Portrait society, the highest accolade for a British portrait in 2024, Andrew was elected Vice–President of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 2008.

The Andrew James Expressive Portraits course in Portishead has now run successfully 25 times and is returning in the Autumn.

Wendy Barratt is an artist who is fascinated with representing the human – both in portraiture and life drawing. Her portraiture is made primarily in oil paint whereas life drawing becomes an experiment in mostly dry media.

Long Pose Life Class in Henleaze

I help organise a life-class group on Thursday Mornings 9.30 to 12.30pm.

The same pose is sustained for three consecutive weeks where possible. Long pose life classes are quite unusual so it’s a great chance to keep working and re-working until you are satisfied.
